Gear Checklist For New Concealed Carriers

🧰 Gear Checklist for New Concealed Carriers

Everything You Actually Need — and Nothing You Don’t

So you’ve taken your concealed carry class (or are about to), picked out your first handgun, and now you're wondering:
What gear do I really need to carry confidently and legally?

At C2K Defense, we work with civilian carriers, instructors, and professionals across the country — and here’s the gear we always recommend for first-time concealed carriers.

✅ 1. A Quality Holster (We’re a Little Biased)

Your holster is arguably more important than your gun.
It should be:

  • Molded to your exact firearm model (no “universal” nylon slop)

  • Secure with positive retention (it clicks in)

  • Comfortable enough to wear all day

  • Designed for safe reholstering

We recommend starting with a Kydex IWB (Inside the Waistband) holster — like our  IWB Holster — which offers great concealment and reliability for new carriers.

âś… 2. A Proper Gun Belt

Regular belts sag under weight. A reinforced EDC belt helps:

  • Support the weight of your firearm

  • Keep your holster in the same position all day

  • Prevent printing and fidgeting

We don't currently (COMING SOON!!!) sell belts, but we strongly recommend investing in one. (Need recommendations? Hit us up.)

âś… 3. A Spare Magazine Carrier (Optional but Smart)

Some compact handguns only carry 7–10 rounds. A magazine holster keeps a spare mag:

  • Accessible with your support hand

  • Protected from lint, sweat, or bending

  • Close to your body for comfort

Our mag carriers are slim, clip-on, and perfect for everyday carry.

âś… 4. A Solid Flashlight

If you're carrying, you need to identify your target — especially at night.
A compact, high-lumen flashlight like a Streamlight or Surefire is a must-have.

We offer Kydex flashlight holsters for belt or bag carry, keeping your light ready without clutter.

âś… 5. Confidence & Training

Gear doesn’t matter if you’re not confident using it.
Take time to:

  • Practice drawing and reholstering safely

  • Learn how to carry in your specific clothing setup

  • Seek training beyond the bare minimum

Confidence comes from comfort — and comfort comes from the right gear.

🎯 Final Thoughts

Concealed carry isn’t just a right — it’s a responsibility. Starting with quality, purpose-built gear sets the foundation for safe, effective carry for years to come.
